| England Cricket Team's Recent Performances |
|
After winning the Ashes in 2005, England have once again asserted their strong hold over cricket. The England Cricket Team's recent performances show how the team managed to leave the unsuccessful past behind and took the field with positive zeal and a lot of enthusiasm. However with many of the top players out with injury, the team has once again suffered, and the bad news for them is that the team has fared rather poorly in the shorter version of the game.
Pakistan Series, July-August 2006
In the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan at home, England did well to clinch the Test series 2-0. They exhibited some powerful batting and devastating bowling. This series was specially memorable as England, playing without some of its top players who sat out owing to injury, managed to pull off the victory with the help of some young, promising players.
Sri Lanka Series, May 2006
England put up another good performance against Sri Lanka when the latter toured England in the summer of 2006. England tied the series 1-1. this tour revealed a few of England's drawbacks and this was specially visible in the way they failed to register a win in the first Test at Lords even after acquiring a first innings lead of 359 runs and forcing Sri Lanka to follow on. However the ODI series that followed was a complete disaster with England losing 5-0, which was a major blow to their World Cup preparations.
England in India, March-April 2006
England had a very forgettable tour of India in early 2006. they did manage to draw the Test series 1-1, but lost 5-1 in the ODI series that followed. It must, however be kept in mind that England played the tournament without a host of its top players who were out with injury.
With injuries too top players like captain Michael Vaughn and strike bowler Steve Harmison, the England Cricket Team's recent performances have suffered to some extent.
