Full name Mohammad Yousuf Born August 27, 1974, Lahore, Punjab Major teams Pakistan, ACC Asian XI, Bahawalpur, Lahore Batting style Right-hand bat
Mohammad Yousuf or Yousuf Youhana, as he was previously known, is an extremely hard hitting batsman who is renowned for his ability to score quick runs. He has scored an ODI fifty in just 23 balls and a century off 68 balls. In Tests he has scored a 27 ball fifty which is the third fastest by any player. But the beauty of his cricket is that though he is capable of playing the big shots, he prefers to score the majority of his runs in singles, thereby rotating the strike a lot. He finished 2003 and 2004 as the top runs scorer in the world in ODIs. In 2004 he had a brilliant series against Australia and an equally good series against England the following year. He has continued to be a very good player for Pakistan and has consistently contributed with the bat.
Before his recent conversion to Islam in 2005, he was the only Christian player in the Pakistani squad. After his conversion he changed his name from Yousuf Youhana to Mohammad Yousuf.
